To make the Web even more accessible for people around the world whose native language is not English, Netpia has developed the Native Language Internet Address (NLIA) and Native Language Email Address (NLEA) technologies.
Netpia¡¯s services allow the user to enter a unique name that could represent the corporate identity, brand, or services of companies in the native language of the target market. This way, the user is able to choose a name that is so easy to remember and to type instead of the domain name.
Netpia¡¯s services complement the domain names very nicely. The system also provides Native Language Internet Group Name (NLIGN) service, which provides a list of links to relevant websites based on the keyword entry that is entered by user (in the native language) in the address bar. In addition, the company¡¯s NLEA service allows a similar level of convenience using the native language for e-mail addresses.
Netpia offers native language web address service in 80 languages of the 95 countries around the world. The NLIA has already been selected by major internet providers in 14 countries, including the primary communication service providers in Mexico, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Lebanon, to provide native language Web address and e-mail service.
Netpia is the pioneer of the next generation Internet address system. For the last 15 years, with its passion and challenge, Netpia has been concentrating on the development of technologies related to the Korean Internet Address and the Korean E-mail Address as well as the user-friendly environment for Koreans who are using Korean as their native language. Through
this development, it is minimizing the digital gap, activating oNLIAe participation, and contributing in advancement of e-Government. Moreover, the company is putting our best efforts in development and provision of the Native Language Internet Address in 95 countries to narrow down the digital gap worldwide.
Currently, Netpia is concentrating on the expansion of Korean Internet Name infrastructure by partnering with about 50 well-known ISPs nationwide, and has set the Korean Internet Address as de facto standard with 50,000 paid-registrations. Furthermore, we are doing our best to narrow down the digital divide in the country and to embody e-Government by bringing out 100% Korean Internet Address registrations of 250 local governments as well as the public prosecutors offices nationwide.
Through the engineering testing in 95 countries, we are working to export the standard model of the Native Language Internet Address (NLIA) to Taiwan, Greece, Thailand, Japan, China, Afghanistan, Bulgaria and Bangladesh as well as other Asian and European countries, where English is not the native language.
Since 1999, Netpia has initiated the NLIA services in the international conferences, where Internet Address resources are administered, such as APAN, WIPO, ICANN and IETF.
In August 2003, Netpia provided NLIA for 95 different countries at the Summer Universiad Daegu 2003 for the first time in the world. Also in December, the company¡¯s success story was in the spotlight at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) hosted by the United Nations.
With the accomplishment of creating the Korean Internet Address, Netpia will work to narrow down the digital gap among different countries and to lay the groundwork for the prosperity by globalizing the Native Language Internet Address.
