Samwha¡¯s disc ceramic capacitor business unit began producing Korea¡¯s first capacitor in 1969 and today is the nation¡¯s leader in the capacitor industry.
The main product for the division is the eponymous disc ceramic capacitor, a passive electronic component that stores energy in the form of an electrostatic field. In its simplest form, a capacitor consists of two conducting plates separated by an insulating material called the dielectric.
The main applications for disc ceramic capacitors are power supply circuits for all types of electric devices such as digital displays, white appliances, lighting equipment, and industrial and medical machines.
Founded in 1956 as Ohan Industry, Samwha Capacitor Industry became Korea¡¯s first mass-producer of power capacitors and ceramic capacitors in the 1960s.
In 1985 Samwha Capacitor began Korea¡¯s first mass production of monopoly chip multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) with proprietary technology.
Today, the company¡¯s product range includes multilayer ceramic capacitors, disc ceramic capacitors, varistors, EMI suppression filters, bead & inductor, and ceramic capacitors for hybrid vehicle inverters.
Samwha Capacitor has received ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certifications for quality management, and received the Innovation Award in 2011. The company¡¯s main export markets include China and Southeast Asia.
Samwha relocated its main manufacturing facilities to Indonesia in 2001 to position itself close to target markets and greatly increase its cost competitiveness.
