Mando completes construction of auto part plant in Brazil South Korea¡¯s Mando, a leading manufacturer of anti-lock brake system (ABS), completed construction of an auto part manufacturing facility in Brazil - which can produce 500,000 units of ABS brakes annually.
Mando celebrated completing construction of its Brazilian plant at ¡®Mando Corporation do Brasil¡¯ (MCB) located in Limeira, Sao Paulo.
The MCB plant was built on a 55,520 square-meter site with a floor space of 13,200 square meters, and it can produce up to 500,000 units of ABS brakes on a yearly basis. Mando¡¯s ABS brakes will be supplied to local car-manufacturing plants of Korean carmaker Hyundai Motor Company and US-based GM starting from September this year.
Mando had established the MCB in July 2010, and by constructing the plant, Mando has secured a foothold to penetrate into the Latin American market, which is emerging as one of the most promising car markets.
In addition, by constructing a manufacturing base in Brazil, Mando also strengthened its capacity to cover the American market and supply car components on demand.
Mando plans to double its ABS output at its MCB plant to one million units by 2016. In the mid-to long-term, Mando plans to manufacture other car components including calipers and power steering products as well as ABS brakes.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian government plans to require all vehicles to be equipped with ABS brakes starting with 2014 model vehicles.
