[Electric Chargers for Electric Vehicles]
Korea Electric Power Company announced the new electric charger for electric vehicles in January 2010.
Two types of electric chargers have been released by Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO). One is the quick charging type and the other is the normal charging type. The quick type charger (maximum output 50kW) is installed at the charging station to provide electricity for vehicles instead of gasoline, and normal type (maximum output 7.7kW) can be used for longtime electric charging at home.
Provided with 380V of alternating current it changes into direct current to supply electricity for the vehicle, the quick type can be charged in 20 minutes, while it takes about five hours for normal type charger to be charged.
Identification of user or customer through the Radio Frequency ID card and real time payment using credit card are available for the chargers.
