A High-tech City of the Year 2050 - An Encounter between Humankind and the Sea What innovative designs will form a part of our everyday lives in a few decades?
EXPO 2012 Yeosu will bring the future lifestyle into reality by using advanced technologies and imagination. A tapestry of the dreams of humankind embroidered upon the sea.
Together, the exhibition pavilions and facilities will create harmony with the mutual goal of promoting the shared prosperity that transcends boundaries, while at the same time, highlighting individuality through unique designs and exhibits.
The Theme Pavilion is the nation¡¯s first structure to be built upon the sea, displaying elegantly flowing curves that reflect Yeosu¡¯s coastline. It is the central space that realizes the EXPO¡¯s theme. The moving Media Façde is expected to become an iconic feature of the EXPO along with The Big-O¡¯s Night Multi-media Show.
The OCBPA located on the second floor of the Theme Pavilion is the core exhibition area that introduces the major achievements of humankind related to the sea and offers a vision of the future advances in terms of sustainable development.
The International Pavilion will house the exhibitions of over 100 participating countries. Its design embodies the images of Dadohae (Sea of Archipelago) off the southern coast of Korea.
The participating countries will be divided into five groups, each representing one of the Five Oceans and promoting the harmony and prosperity of all regions. Through their exhibitions, participating countries will highlight their technological advancement and cultural uniqueness.
The Korea Pavilion is the hall for the host country, designed to clearly convey Korea¡¯s vision to rise as a nation that grows with the sea. This future-oriented building with minimum carbon emissions boasts hightech, forward-looking designs combined with traditional accents.
It will be used as the EXPO 2012 Yeosu Memorial Hall after the end of the EXPO.
A series of pavilions dealing with more segmented sub-themes on human activities related to the ocean and the coast will add to the variety of the EXPO and enrich visitors¡¯ understanding of the marine environment.
The International Organizations Pavilion, the Local Governments Pavilion, Marine Robot Pavilion, the Individual Company Pavilions , Korea Shipping & Ports Pavilion and many other exhibition facilities will enhance the participation of both public and private sectors.
