South Korea's Auto Components Reflecting Green Technology Start Drawing Attention at AAPEX 2011
|
|
South Korea¡¯s automobile production in July 2011 grew by 3.7% year-to-year to 391,607 units on the back of steady sales-increase in and out of the country. Year-to-date production posted an 8.8% rise amounting to 2,694,207 units.
Riding the wave of the sales increase of fuel efficient models including compact cars and HEV amid oil price hike, new model release effect and consolidated sales-networks, domestic sales in July rose by 6.0% compared to a year earlier at 127,816 units. Year-to-date home sales increased 4.3% to 867,013 vehicles. Reflecting these trends, South Korea¡¯s automotive parts makers, totaling nearly 9,000, are busy retaining their domestic and offshore competitiveness, showing their increased performance in both the domestic and export markets.
As part of their endeavors to keep pace with the rapidly changing global care market trend, South Korea¡¯s automotive components makers maintain their close working relationship with state-run research bodies, such as the Korea Automotive Technology Institute, to develop direct or indirect cutting-edge automobiles parts including battery systems, etc.
Equipped with advanced automotive components and technology, some 50 domestic makers in the field are expected to join the forthcoming AAPEX (Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo) 2011, slated for Nov. 1~3 in Las Vegas, United States.
Their competitive products, ranging from automotive parts and accessories to car maintenance equipment, will be exhibited at the Korea Pavilion run by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), attracting keen attention from more than 60,000 buyers attending the exhibition from all over the world.
The show is considered to be a significant boost for the U.S. economy, as it will potentially provide jobs for approximately more than 5 million people. As an important factor for assisting the recovery of the still sluggish local economy, the exhibition will help in accelerating economic recovery through exchanges of information, items, human resources, etc.
