Gyeonggi Small & Medium Business Center, A Reliable Partner of SMEs
Gyeonggi Small Business Center (GSBC) was founded in 1997 with an aim of providing comprehensive
support for small & medium-sized enterprises based in Gyeonggi-do.
With the mission of ¡®nurturing globally competitive small & medium-sized enterprises,¡¯ GSBC provides
various specialized business service to SMEs and start-ups in Gyeonggi-do.
As home to a number of promising enterprises and quality manpower of Korea, Gyeonggi-do has played a
leading role in Korea¡¯s economic and industrial development for the past decades.
One-third of the nation¡¯s manufacturers are located in the region where more than 5.7 million people are
engaged in economic activities. Also the total export volume from the companies in Gyeonggi-do exceeded
$61.08 billion in 2009.
Along with the large-scale manufacturing capability, Gyeonggi-do has taken steps to realize its vision of
becoming the center of the Northeast Asian economy beyond being a growth engine for the Korean economy by
attracting next-generation knowledge-based high-tech industries.
As part of this effort, Gyeonggi-do has built Gwanggyo Techno Valley, which houses a host of high-tech
companies and leading R&D centers for advanced industries such as the Korea Advanced Nano Fab Center,
Gyeonggi Bio Center, Gyeonggi R&DB Center and Advanced Institutes of Convergence Technology, attracting
the nation¡¯s highest talents.
Located in the Gwanggyo Techno Valley, the Gyeonggi Small Business Center is furnished an active
supporting system for small and medium enterprises, and will be able to provide one-stop service for small and medium businesses with the cooperation of small business support institutions.
GSBC¡¯s Activities
The Gyeonggi Small Business Center aims to support small & medium-sized enterprises that can adapt to the rapidly changing market needs and ultimately become a leading player in the global markets.
With this goal in mind, the GSBC¡¯s main responsibilities

are categorized into the following five areas — enterprise start-up support,
technology commercialization support, marketing support, manpower/training
support and provision of the customized supports in the field.
Business Start-up Support
As a business incubator, GSBC explores prospective business proprietors with
good business items and technological competence and provides diverse start-up
assistance, including help to commercialize their ideas. Furthermore, GSBC
intends to lay the groundwork for the successful establishment and development
of a company into a verified potential enterprise by offering the tailored 1:1
support suitable for each stage of growth.
Marketing Support
GSBC serves as a bridge between local companies and overseas buyers by inviting buyers, providing supporting 1:1 business
talk and participating in the domestic and overseas export exhibition.
Moreover, GSBC helps companies advance into the U.S. market through a cooperation program with Texas State University
and by operating its Trade Helper service for expanding e-commerce transactions among small & medium enterprises.
As GBC establishes branch offices in the six newly emerging markets in the world, they can be utilized as overseas offices for
small & medium enterprises.
Technology Commercialization Support
GSBC provides enterprises help in diverse dimensions required for a business to commercialize its own idea and technology to
a real products — test and analysis necessary to develop products, equipment, products design, producing pilot products,
diverse measurements and analysis to diagnose the stability and practicality of manufactured products, production of image
media to publicize the products, etc.
Manpower / Training Supports
Given that excellent superior and specialized training are essential for becoming a global enterprise, GSBC provides the
optimum job offer and job hunting program through its employment supporting program and the Gyeonggi elite portal ¡°in-to-in
center¡± tailored to identifying the top-class human resources required by companies and for job hunters. Furthermore, GSBC
contributes to creating dynamic power for new growth of enterprises by training the existing staff members in such areas as
managerial skills and duties necessary to operate an enterprise.
Customized Support in the Field
GSBC helps enterprises solve obstacles and difficulties in running a business through general counseling and consulting
services provided by experts who visit and help solve problems (difficult matters) on-site, or provide diverse information on the
management of small & medium enterprises on a real time basis by operating the Business SOS Center.
